Recently I had the opportunity to try out some bars from a company called Natural Balanced Foods. They are a British based company making delicious and good for you snacks and bars. Their bars are different than a lot of the “cereal” or “snack” bars on the market because they contain all natural and whole ingredients. There is no added sweeteners or sugars in their bars.
- It takes 35 minutes to make one Nakd bar. A traditional “cereal bar” can take over 3 hours to make. (This means that the bar is more in a natural state with the ingredients than your other bars on the shelves).
You can see and smell the delicious ingredients that are in each of the bars. To the left is the Rhubarb & Custard and the right is the Cocoa Mint.
Their bars are full of flavor and super delicious. They have been a go to midday snack for me over the past few weeks. There is nothing like having a bar you are so excited to try and then first bite you are let down with the taste.
Their bars and nibbles are
- Dairy Free
- Wheat & Gluten Free
- Low in Saturated Fats
- Free from added sugar
- GM Free
Aside from their standard bars they sell a “crunch” variety and “nibbles” that are little pieces. Most of their bars are nuts with a mix of dates or raisins.
The crunch bars do contain soy and tapioca starch. If you are okay having either of those ingredients I HIGHLY recommend this crunchy snack 🙂
With the nibbles I made a DELICIOUS smoothie bowl
– 1 cup almond milk
– 1/4 c coconut water
– 1/3 cup frozen berries
– 1/3-1/2 c frozen cauliflower
– 1 scoop protein powder
– 1 scoop Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides
– 1 tbsp flax seed
Blend all ingredients together and top with some of your favorite things! I used coconut shavings, chia seeds, cranberries, pumpkin seeds, and the Nakd Strawberries & Cream Nibbles.
The Strawberries & Cream Nibbles taste like candy. They come in a few other flavors like Salted Caramel, Coconut Bliss, and Toffee. These do contain rice flour but the other ingredients are dates, cashews, and raisins for each flavor. Some do contain another ingredient or two depending on the flavor.
The “Nakd” line come in a variety of 11 different bars. 4 of the bars contain Cacao (Caffe Mocha, Cocoa Delight, Cocoa Mint, and Cocoa Orange). There is a flavor for all liking. My favorites have been the Cocoa Mint, Cashew Cookie, Rhubarb & Custard and Pecan Pie. Dates are in all flavors and depending on which you can find pecans, almonds, cashews, raisins and berries.
Which flavor of Nakd would you most want to try?
Some of these bars I plan to save for my next round of Whole 30. They may not be on the “list” of approved items but the ingredients match up for an emergency snack. If you have followed my past rounds you know I am not one to have an emergency snack every day but I do always have something on me for that just in case moment.
